Tarik M. Yousef is Senior Fellow in Global Economy and Development at Brookings and Director of the Brookings Doha Center. His professional career has spanned the academic world at Georgetown University and the Harvard Kennedy School, and the public policy arena at the IMF, the World Bank, and the UN. His research has focused on the political economy of policy reform in the Arab world. He has contributed to more than 50 articles and chapters, and co-edited several volumes including: “Generation in Waiting: The Unfulfilled Promise of Young People in the Middle East” (Brookings Press, 2009); “After the Spring: Economic Transition in the Arab World” (Oxford University Press, 2012); “Young Generation Awakening: Economics, Society, and Policy on the Eve of the Arab Spring” (Oxford University Press, 2016); and “Public Sector Reform in the Middle East and North Africa: Lessons of Experience for a Region in Transition” (Brookings Press, 2020).
