Mohanad Hage Ali

Mohanad Hage Ali is the Director of Communications and a research fellow at Carnegie Middle East Center. Before joining Carnegie, he had worked for two decades as an editor and an academic. He was a Managing Editor of NOW Arabic website, and a political editor at al-Hayat newspaper in Beirut and London, where his work focused mostly on Iraq and militant Islam. Mohanad taught politics and journalism at the Lebanese American University (LAU), and has an Msc. and a PhD in Comparative Politics from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He has published a book titled “Nationalism, Transnationalism, and Political Islam: Hizbullah's Institutional Identity” (Palgrave, 2017), and his research focuses on Militant Islam and the rising Russian role in the region”.
